*Review: Defy (Sinners of Saint #0.5) by L.J. Shen

Defy is a smutty, insta-love, insta-lust short novella. Defy is a prequel to Vicious (Sinners of Saint #1). It is recommended, but unnecessary, to read Defy before reading Vicious.

My name is Melody Greene, and I have a confession to make.
I slept with my student, a senior in high school.
Multiple times.
I had multiple orgasms.
In multiple positions.
I slept with my student and I enjoyed it.
I slept with my student and I’d do it all over again if I could turn back time.
My name is Melody Greene, and I got kicked out of my position as a teacher and did my walk of shame a la Cersei Lannister from the principal’s office, minutes after said principal threatened to call the cops on me.
My name is Melody Greene, and I did something bad because it made me feel good.
Here is why it was totally worth it.

I am a fairly new reader of L.J. Shen and let me tell you she writes some freaking hot books! I first read Vicious, book one, and OMG!!! I fell hardcore for everything about that book and the way it was written! I was excited to see that our forbidden couple was going to get their book and I think putting their story into a novella is exactly how I would’ve wanted to read it.

If you don’t read Vicious before this novella you still get everything you would need to understand the picture that is being presented for you. I was super excited to read about the teacher, for unknown reasons, this whole scenario got me all giddy with anticipation. Melody was a little different than I pictured but as soon as I got more in depth into what her character has been through and what brought her to where she ended up was just the icing on the cake and came together beautifully. I felt for her so many times throughout the novella because I can only imagine being in that position and to be tempted by this sexy student; and the images I came up with were oh so hot!

I really enjoyed this novella and getting to know this student/teacher couple that turned me into a complete ball of sexual tension. The words and the way each knew what they were doing but wasn’t sure where it was headed got me excited and worried. While I knew what their ending would be I still had moments where I was afraid and or annoyed about one situation or another. I loved this novella and this group of friends! I can’t wait to read more from this talented author!!
