From New York Times bestselling author, Kristen Ashley, comes the long-awaited story of Daisy and Marcus, Rock Chick Reawakening. A prequel to Kristen’s Rock Chick series, Rock Chick Reawakening shares the tale of the devastating event that nearly broke Daisy, an event that set Marcus Sloane—one of Denver’s most respected businessmen and one of the Denver underground’s most feared crime bosses—into finally making his move to win the heart of the woman who stole his.
Amy W’s Review
I finished this novella at 4:00am and I have been thinking about it ALL DAY! As I sit here and wallow in my sadness that the Rock Chick series is DONE once and for all. Let’s talk about what made this book FANTASTIC.
We all know that Marcus and Daisy have been married for a while in Rock Chick Rescue (#2) so this was the story of how and why Daisy came to be Marcus’.
Daisy was a GOOD southern girl born into a tough situation. She was made to believe that she was trash even though she was a beacon of light is her own dark world. She comes to Denver after the straw that broke the camel’s back so to speak. She has good manners and the charm every southern woman should possess but she cannot seem to cut a break.
She finds herself dancing at Smithie’s and she catches the eye of the sexy, wealthy, and very much single Marcus Sloan. He likes her but he hesitates to make a move until he has things in order so that he can properly start his pursuit of Daisy. Only he takes too long and as we all know she is violated.
I am going to stop there. Daisy’s recovery is a testament to her strength and Marcus’ undying devotion to her. He likes what he saw before her trauma and he likes her NO less after but he is patient and caring, even though in true Rock Chick fashion, Daisy wants no part of it, at first. Marcus does earn his place among the Hot Bunch for sure as he is may be sweet and patient, but he is persistent and refuses to take no for an answer, GO MARCUS!
There was a longing that you felt in Daisy that made you see where her insta-friendship with Jet and Indy is coming from. KA stayed true to her Rock Chicks history and we finally see the connections of Lee and Marcus, Daisy and Shirleen, Darius and Marcus and Marcus and Smithie (and Daisy as well).
But what would a series FINALE be without one of KA’s EPIC, AWESOME and AMAZING EPILOGUES? It just wouldn’t do, that is what! And this epilogue will not disappoint. I CRIED and laughed and wanted to jump up and down, but alas it was 4 in the morning so I had to silently wept for joy. I also wept as I said goodbye to the Hot Bunch and Rock Chicks for now. I will of course reread them eventually and I will wait patiently for the LA adventures of Mace and Stella (Darius too). Thanks Kristen Ashley for making Daisy’s story as beautiful and sparkly as she is.
This was a 5++ star read for me, comprende!
