What I remember the most about that day was that it was completely ordinary. Then with one stupid decision everything fell apart and nothing was ever the same.
Rae Wilder wants nothing but a do over—but life doesn’t work that way. She’s stuck living out the consequences of her actions. At times the burden feels unbearable.
College is supposed to be her second chance.
No one to know what she did.
Despite that, she has still vowed to avoid everyone and everything at all costs.
Unfortunately for her, an accidental run-in with the campus heartthrob, Cade Montgomery, derails that plan.
He’s determined to thaw the ice around her heart and expose the girl she used to be. He wants to show her that life is worth living for and that she really is a Rae of Sunshine.
This was only my second read from this author and let me tell you I was blown away! I actually read When Stars Collide first and freaking LOVED it!!! After quickly finishing book number two I went and purchased book one to see what I missed and although you know about how the book end from reading book two first, I was still on the edge of my seat. Meeting Rae and trying to understand what was going on with her was quite the shocker. Just understanding the difficulty going away to college is a major thing for a young adult but to also be living the life she lives with everyday after a horrific accident takes it toll on a person. Needless to say I grew VERY attached to Rae and every more to Thea for being such an amazingly determined friend.
This book could have gone so many different ways because of the trauma Rae went through before coming to college but the way Ms. Smeltzer writes these delicate words puts everything together in such a way you can only hope for an outcome you aren’t sure will happen. And that is because Rae is the broken, haunted freshman just trying to stay hidden away from everyone while fighting to not give in to the horrible truths of depression. While Cade is this hot jock who was broken once before and never let another woman get close but can’t understand why his mind keeps going back to the freshman who keeps falling around him.
Trust me when you read this book you will immediately one-click book two!
5 Heart-Clenching Stars!
